Thang Long University's main building.
The Thang Long University (TLU) is the first non-state higher education body that has been established in Vietnam. The name of Thang Long was the original one of the capital of Vietnam, now Hanoi.
TLU was created in December 1988 under the name of "Thang Long Non-state University Center" and had a strong focus on the teaching of Mathematics and Informatics. In 1994, it became the "Thang Long Non-state University" before becoming in 2007 the present Thang Long University, which is fully accredited by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam.
Although relying mainly on private funds, TLU is oriented as a nonprofit higher educational institution and, as such, seeks to offer the best learning conditions to its students. It adheres to the Vietnamese heritage and traditions in its educational mission and vision while subscribing to modern science and technology training.
